Donate Food

In the development of our food hampers, the London Food Bank attempts to provide our clients with food that supports a healthy diet.

Some of our most needed non-perishable food categories are:

  • Canned vegetables & fruit (no sugar added)

  • Canned tomatoes (no salt added)

  • Canned tuna and salmon

  • Peanut butter

  • Special-diet foods (gluten-free, lactose-free, etc.)

  • Dried vegetables (lentils, chick peas, legumes, etc.)

  • Healthy breakfast cereals

Food Donation Locations

We are also happy to receive perishable food donations.  Any variety of fruit or vegetable, commercially baked goods (in original packaging), or fresh/frozen meat (commercially packaged in original packaging, or must be government inspected and prepared by a licensed abattoir) must be delivered directly to the London Food Bank during our operating hours. Check out Foodland Ontario's Availability Guide to choose the best in local produce any time of year!

Do not place perishable food items in grocery store bins or at fire halls. Perishable items must be delivered directly to the London Food Bank during our weekday operating hours.

Perishable foods

Non-perishable food donations can be delivered directly to the London Food Bank during our operating hours, or placed into a collection bin at most grocery stores in the city.

Please do not leave donations of any kind outside our building when we are not open, as we can not use donations that have been left outside.

Need a pick-up?

If you have a large donation or are otherwise unable to deliver, you can schedule a pick-up.

Other things to know

Best-before dates are used voluntarily by food manufacturers and are never an indication of product safety, and only serve as a guarantee by the manufacturer on how long the product will maintain its flavour, texture, and general wholesomeness.  Handled and stored properly, non-perishable items will be as safe to eat indefinitely past the best-before date as they were when produced. For non-perishable foods, we are able to accept "wet goods" that are canned/jarred/bottled up until 2 years past the best-before date and "dry goods" that are boxed/bagged up until 1 year past the best-before date.

Unfortunately we are not able to distribute home-made goods, opened or partially-used goods, or unlabelled cans.

Please feel free to contact us if you are unsure about your the suitability of your donation, or if you have any additional questions.
