Our directors come from many walks of life. They provide overall direction for the London Food Bank.

Staff

Glen Pearson - Co-Executive Director

Glen, a retired professional firefighter and former Member of Parliament, has served the London Food Bank as its Executive Director since 1987. Glen also served as the chairperson for the Ontario Association of Food Banks for a two-year term. He and Jane Roy were married in July 1999 and now lead the Food Bank as a husband-and-wife team.

Jane Roy - Co-Executive Director

Since 1988, Jane has been involved with the London Food Bank and she has been remarkably successful at developing the organization's profile in the community. Like Glen, Jane served a two-year term as the chairperson for the Ontario Association of Food Banks and was also a key member of the Mayor's Anti-Poverty Task Force.

Brian Ratcliffe - General Manager

A volunteer during the Food Bank's early years, Brian became part of our staff in 1992. His primary responsibilities involve the overall operation of the Food Bank, including new volunteers, overseeing the warehouse, and seeing to the shipment of food both to and from the Food Bank.

Mary Ann McDowell - Operations Co-ordinator

Mary Ann started volunteering at the Food Bank in 1995 and joined the staff in 1998. She is responsible for various aspects of the Food Bank, including leading volunteer groups during the day and overseeing special events such as the Santa Claus Parade and Holiday Train. Mary Ann also manages the Neighbourhood Food Depot network.

Doug Plumley - Finance & Technology Co-ordinator

After many years in the corporate world, Doug started volunteering at the Food Bank in 2004 and found a better form of banking. His responsibilities are finance, technology, and general warehouse operations. Doug also arranges volunteer hours for high-school students.

Mike Bloxam - Fresh Food Co-ordinator

Mike started volunteering at the Food Bank on Saturday mornings in 1999, and later became a leader for volunteer groups on Saturdays. In 2016, he joined the staff to assume co-ordination of the Community Harvest program, and deals with collection and distribution of other fresh food donations. Mike also oversees the planting and cultivation of our onsite vegetable gardens and food forest by our green-thumbed volunteers.

Elliott Rate - Transport Co-ordinator

Elliott began his involvement with the Food Bank as a summer student in 2015 as part of the Community Harvest program. He joined the staff in 2017 to help ramp up the Community Refresh program to collect fresh product from grocery stores. Elliott also spends much of December working with the volunteers at the Business Cares food drive.
